Originally designed by a leading genomics team from Australia and Europe, Global Gen’s innovative breeding program continues to evolve by incorporating critical selection data collected from local hatchery and demonstration farm cultures.
The demonstration farm, located in North Sumatra, has both indoor and outdoor farming facilities. It is used to conduct performance trials and other R&D initiatives to determine overall performance under commercial conditions. Progeny from the Nauplii Breeding Centre (NBC) will be stocked at densities of 100 post larvae per square meter and critical data is tracked from stocking until harvest (approximately 120 days). Growth and survival data are analyzed to ensure that stocks will perform under wide-ranging commercial farm conditions.
Our selective breeding program has yielded consistent improvements in a balance of traits. Global Gen broodstock have generationally improving levels of fecundity, fertility, nauplii per spawner and longer duration of spawning. Similarly, Global Gen post larvae exhibit improved average daily growth rates (ADG), higher Survival Rate (SR%) and decreasing FCR.

GOING DIGITAL
The digitization of data and other technology innovations have simplified the storage of data and increased the speed at which data can be converted to meaningful information. Global Gen has implemented a new hatchery management platform to integrate various operational and administrative functions whilst enabling real time monitoring of key production indicators. By enabling faster data-driven decision making Global Gen can focus on producing ideal broodstock for our customers.
